Networking with Sandy Springs Rotarians

Greetings,
The first posting for a proposed SSRC blog.

Topic: How should Sandy Springs Rotarians begin networking among ourselves and with others in Sandy Springs? Assumed two key objectives of:

 1. making our membership more valuable to existing members; and

 2. drawing new members to whom networking, in addition to service, is so important.

Please give all unfiltered feedback. I am particularly interested in type of venue, timing and frequency of meetings and general thoughts.

Eric Carlson
2010-11 Club President

What a wonderful way to write each other. I will link in each morning looking forward to hearing from lots of you. What have I been doing? Wednesday, my husband and I fixed the appetizers for 30 restidents of Mt Vernon Village Retirement Home where my 91 year young mother lives. They have such a good time at their weekly Happy Hour. Listening to their numerous experiences is a privilege.

Blog Postings by categories gives an excellent means of Asking and Helping with a variety of topics. It could be available 24/7 which would be convenient for most.

great idea.....many other clubs eagerly support business amongst its members! not just "what's in it for me!"

A member/business directory database that allows each member to submit a brief (very brief?) description of their business and/or services might be a nice addition to the website. It would be easy to create and might serve as a referral centerpiece for us to do business with each other and to refer our member's services to others. Basically it would contain Contact Name, Business Name, Short Descriptor, Email Address, Telephone Number. Anything else needed?

Type of venue: Host offices, Bars.
Timing: Quarterly for an actual meeting, monthly for happy hour.
General Thoughts: Great idea for those interested in networking, should be a club member in good standing, and who participates in club events or projects.
