Sandy Springs Rotarian Recieves Highest Honor! During Rotary International President William Boyd's visit to Atlanta last week he took the time to make a very special presentation on behalf of Rotary. Sandy Springs Rotarian and Past District 6900 Governor J. Barry Smith was presented Saturday with the Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented annually to only 50 Rotarians worldwide and is the highest honor bestowed by the Rotary Foundation. It is awarded in recognition of exceptional active service to The Rotary Foundation.
SSRC Sponsors International Night at North Springs H. S. This is an opportunity for Rotarians and others in our community to join in a celebration of the school's cultural diversity. On November 2nd the event will kick off with a "Parade of Nations" and then those in attendance can mingle with educators, parents, students and community leaders sampling native food and learning about the cultural traditions, customs, dress, etc. of other nations.
This year a Rotarian from Florida will give a 15 minute synopsis of the Shelter Box Project which Sandy Springs Rotary currently supports. This project has been tremendously successful in aiding many around the world including the most recent tsunami victims of Indonesia.

October is Rotary Vocational Service Month!
Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris formed a small club of businessmen in Chicago with the idea that business leaders should meet periodically to enjoy camaraderie and to enlarge their circle of business and professional acquaintances. From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The Four-Way Test.
This 24-word test for employees to follow in their business and professional lives became the guide for sales, production, advertising, and all relations with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company is credited to this simple philosophy. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The Four-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways.
Rotarians should keep this point in mind when considering new prospects for membership in our organization. Take a look around you at the persons you interact with in business and social forums. If you feel they meet the high Rotary standard of ethics and are interested in serving the community, bring them to lunch!
Know someone who would enjoy Rotary? Click here to reserve a spot and invite them to next week's meeting!
