Last Week at Rotary
Terri Denison, District Director of the Small Business Administration Gave Overview of Her Duties
On Monday, March 25th, Terri Denison informed the Sandy Springs Rotary Club about the role of the Georgia Small Business Administration.
Terri began her presentation with a very much shortened version of the the SBA mission: "The SBA of Georgia covers the entire state and supports the U.S. economy through the creation of small businesses."
Terri proceeded next to the "Three C's". She spoke about the Capital Access the provide to reduce risk exposure and provide better terms. The second C stood for Counseling. The SBA partners with University of Georgia and provides free one-on-one counseling and strategic planning. The third C was for Contracting Assistance. She made it clear that the federal government is by far the largest customer in the world and the SBA helps in the facilitation of those contracts.
Aside from those duties above which you might expect and of particular interest, she told us of two things that most people don't know about the SBA. The first had to do with the very special role the SBA plays to partner with FEMA in times of disaster. They help businesses survive and bridge the gap while normal activities are suspended and people are working to bring the community back to its feet. The second activity had to do with renters and homeowners to keep them from loosing valuable investments and provide a stable base to survive a disaster.

Meet Our Newest Member, Dr. Mark Rabin
We are excited to announce on Monday, March 25th the Sandy Springs Rotary Club inducted its newest member. Dr. Mark Rabin is a semi-retired Dentist. He and his wife Noreen live in Sandy Springs and like to travel and he enjoys golf as a hobby.
He will be a welcomed member and fit right in with the club as he is already dropping the one-liners. He says: "Always remember the "F" word before bed each evening. ....FLOSS!" This is a man after Fred's own heart.
